Piedmont Municipal Power Agency (PMPA®)

PMPA is a joint action agency formed by ten municipal electric utilities in the northwest section of South Carolina. The Agency provides wholesale electric services to its Members primarily through a 25% ownership interest in Unit 2 of the Catawba Nuclear Station (York County, SC). PMPA is governed by a Board of Directors; one director and one alternate are appointed from each Member by elected city councils or utility commissions.

Our Mission: PMPA provides our Public Power Communities reliable, competitive wholesale electric and other value-added services.

KNOW(2) is designed to educate citizens about the importance of obtaining sufficient education to be career-ready. This effort brings together families, schools, businesses, faith organizations, non-profits, and government to build a culture that enables Cherokee County and its citizens to prosper through education.

Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce

The Chamber advocates for its members by promoting the growth of business, industry, and community. Staff and volunteer leadership work together to:

• Work with business and industry professionals to understand their needs and concerns.
• Provide updates on city, county, state, and national legislative and political affairs.
• Be proactive on issues that could hinder Cherokee County’s growth and foster appreciation for investing in competitive business.
• Promote economic programs that strengthen and expand income potential for businesses and industries in the county.
• Encourage civic, social, and cultural programs that increase quality of life and aesthetic values.
• Develop programs to prevent or lessen adverse conditions affecting the business climate.

The City of Gaffney

The Town of Blacksburg

Cherokee County

SC Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA)

RIA enhances quality of life across South Carolina by providing grants, loans, training, technical assistance, and funding coordination for qualified water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects. Since 2013, RIA’s cumulative funding impacts have touched every county, protecting water quality and building capacity for new economic opportunities.

Cherokee County School District

Located in Gaffney, the district serves students across the county with a commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and community engagement. Operating elementary, middle, and high schools along with specialized programs, the district prepares every student for success in an ever-changing world.
